The avalanche of UL 2252 safety certification for EV charging adapters has begun. Now that the testing procedure is ready, more and more products are receiving official certification.
A2Z EV recently announced that its Thunderstorm and Thunderstorm Max (for the Tesla Cybertruck) adapters are the first CCS1-to-NACS adapters certified under UL 2252.
State Of Charge‘s Tom Moloughney has often recommended A2Z EV’s products, and it’s great to see an independent confirmation of safety.
CCS1-to-NACS adapters are now more important than ever before. Besides Teslas, other EVs are now often equipped with NACS charging ports as well. Meanwhile, thousands of CCS1 DC fast chargers are installed in favorable locations. Having an adapter ensures flexibility.
Both A2Z Thunderstorm and A2Z Thunderstorm Max adapters can be ordered directly from the manufacturer’s website. Please note that A2Z EV’s adapters often can be purchased with a small discount after applying the “STATEOFCHARGE” coupon code, which supports the State Of Charge channel and this website.
UL 2252 for AC Adapters
Interestingly, A2Z EV also secured the first UL 2252 certification for a NACS-to-J1772 AC charging adapter in September, one known as the Stellar Plug. It might be useful to charge older non-Tesla EVs (with CCS1 and SAE J1772 charging ports) from NACS AC charging points.
Initially, NACS AC connectors were installed only by Tesla (Tesla Destination network), but eventually, we will see more of them on other networks as well.
The A2Z EV NACS to J1772, Stellar Plug, has officially received its UL2252/CSA-C22.2 certification.
The adapter is now officially the first NACS to J1772 adapter certified under UL2252.https://t.co/sref9MuQlv pic.twitter.com/XTbpDy2LYc
