BP Pulse Launches Its First EV Charging Gigahub in Massachusetts

It features 20 DC fast-charging stalls with a mix of 150 kW and 400 kW chargers.

The BP Pulse charging network has deployed its first EV charging Gigahub in Massachusetts. The publicly accessible site is located just north of the Boston Logan Airport at Hertz’s parking and maintenance facility (450 William F. McClellan Highway in Boston).

The two partners plan to open more stations near airports and other high-demand locations across the country.

The Boston Gigahub features 20 charging stalls (10 dual-head chargers). Two of the chargers consist of 400-kW Alpitronic HYC400 units, while the other eight chargers appear to be 150-kW Tritium units. It seems that, at least for now, all the stalls have CCS1 connectors. According to BP Pulse, the infrastructure is powered by utility provider Eversource.

To celebrate the opening and attract its first customers, BP Pulse has announced a time-limited pricing of $0.36/kWh (excluding taxes and fees).

Sujay Sharma, CEO of BP Pulse Americas, said:

“We’re thrilled to open our first site in Massachusetts. The Boston Gigahub is a significant step in our efforts to build a strategic and robust network of ultrafast chargers in the US. Airport locations in particular enable us to offer efficient and convenient charging solutions for EV drivers, rental car customers, and ride-hail drivers alike.”

Doria Holbrook, EVP Mobility of Hertz, said:

“Our Rideshare customers are often embracing EVs as their vehicle of choice. Access to charging at the Hertz maintenance facility near Boston Logan Airport provides them with fast, convenient charging at one of the busiest pick-up locations in the region, as well as being a great resource for all EV drivers in the area.”

BP Pulse already has a presence in 17 states. The company plans to gradually expand its coverage, deploying ultra-fast chargers at various locations — some at its fuel stations, new-to-industry sites, and other destinations (like LAZ Parking or Simon sites). A map of its sites is available here.
