Cellerate Power, a Vermont-based company that plans to build and operate the state’s fastest chargers, has deployed its first 400-kW chargers. According to the press release, the station is conveniently located at the base of the Stratton Mountain Ski Resort access road (at 40 VT-Route 30, Bondville/Winhall) and has been available for public use since October 2025.
It features two XCharge C7 all-in-one chargers, each with two ports (four total). Each charger has one CCS1 and one NACS (SAE J3400) charging connector for maximum compatibility with EVs currently on the market.
The 400 kW power level is the highest in the state. However, after double-checking PlugShare, we can see that the Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging network also has a 400-kW site in a different part of Vermont. Other chargers (there are fewer than 300 DC stalls in the state) typically deliver up to 250 kW. The company notes that the nearest alternative, 30 minutes away, provides only 150 kW of power and CCS1 connectors. PlugShare indicates that the price of charging is set at $0.49/kWh.
Given the cold winters in the north, it’s always worth ensuring the EV battery is preconditioned to maximize charging power. Cellerate Power plans to install a canopy to protect the chargers and customers from snow and rain.
Erik Moses, Founder and President of Cellerate Power, said:
“Cellerate Power aims to build a customer-focused EV charging network with the latest innovations to help speed EV adoption, increase equitable access to infrastructure, and drive economic opportunity. We selected XCharge NA because of its proven track record offering the fastest, most reliable, easy-to-use charging technology supported by a highly responsive technical team. This is a key contribution to our business model to help customers overcome ‘EV range anxiety,’ which in Vermont is exacerbated by very cold winters and mountainous roads.”
XCharge C7
Cellerate Power’s project marks the first deployment of XCharge C7 chargers in North America. The dual-head 400-kW all-in-one chargers can charge two EVs simultaneously. Power is dynamically allocated between vehicles at 40 kW granularity.
The chargers support high-voltage battery systems (up to 1,000 volts) and two main charging connector types: CCS1 and NACS (SAE J3400), both of which can handle up to 500 amps in a liquid-cooled cable version.
The C7 model is equipped with not only a 13.3-inch HMI touchscreen for interface, but also a 21.5-inch Full HD display for advertising or additional functionality.
Aatish Patel, Cofounder and President of XCharge NA, said:
“Vermont is getting a jolt of the future with this deployment of North America’s first C7 Ultra-Fast Chargers, which will help boost grid resilience and unlock new opportunities for local economies—a shared vision of Cellerate Power and XCharge NA. We are excited to support this transformative deployment which will enable high-speed outputs, expanding access to fast charging in regions where it was previously unavailable and offering drivers a more efficient, reliable charging experience.”

“Great article about the Winhall charging site! We’re thrilled to have 400kW ultra-fast charging available in the mountains near Stratton.
Worth noting: while the Mercedes-Benz site in St. Johnsbury does also feature 400kW chargers, PlugShare activity suggests it didn’t open to the public until late November 2025—making the Winhall location Vermont’s first publicly accessible 400kW charging station when it launched in mid-October.”
