EVgo Celebrates Its 15th Anniversary, Shows Off Network Growth Since 2010

The company plans to more than triple its number of DC fast-charging stalls within five years.

This month, EVgo celebrates its 15th anniversary. The company was started in October 2010 and was initially focused on deploying EV charging infrastructure within metropolitan areas.

EVgo is not only one of the first, but also one of the largest DC fast-charging networks in the US, with 4,350 stalls as of the end of Q2 2025. Especially in the last several years, the company (in partnership with General Motors and Pilot) accelerated the deployment of chargers along major corridors, as well as increased power and the number of stalls at each station.

“Since 2010, we’ve grown into one of the largest and most advanced charging networks in America. To our customers, partners, and the team at EVgo who make it all possible: thank you. Cheers to 15 years!”

EVgo posted a GIF image presenting how the network expansion has progressed between 2010 and 2025:

The first 15 years are just the beginning, as EVgo plans to more than triple the number of stalls it has in service, to over 14,000 by 2029.

More NACS (SAE J3400) Connectors

When EVgo started, the network was utilizing the CHAdeMO connector — the only one available at the time (Tesla’s connector was proprietary and available only at Superchargers). Later, the company switched more to the CCS1, and most recently, is incorporating the NACS (SAE J3400) connector.

We recently reported about seven new NACS locations, and EVgo just confirmed that another five 350-kW SAE J3400 charging locations are on the way.

  • Charger Arwen and Leander at 3130 Balfour Rd, Brentwood, CA
  • Charger Salma at 5601 Silver Creek Valley Road, San Jose, CA
  • Charger Siena at 1401 S El Camino Real Oceanside, CA
  • Charger Dareen and Fouad at 2525 North Texas Street, Fairfield, CA
  • Charger Amaris at 5305 Gibson Boulevard Southeast, Albuquerque, NM

Together with the two installed earlier this year (in February and in June), the total number of native, high-power NACS locations available in the EVgo network increased to 14.
