EVgo Plans Hundreds of Additional NACS Connectors: 500+ in 2026

The company already operates roughly 100 NACS stalls in the US.

EVgo, one of the largest DC fast-charging networks in the United States, has announced major expansion plans concerning NACS (SAE J3400) charging connectors.

The company had already deployed approximately 100 NACS stalls across 22 metropolitan areas under its 2025 pilot program. This put EVgo among market leaders as of late 2025, behind only ChargePoint and Ionna.

However, the market does not sleep, and all DC fast-charging networks must adjust their expansion plans to accommodate the growing number of NACS-compatible electric vehicles (see the list of existing and upcoming NACS EV models here).

New Target for EVgo Expansion: 500+ NACS in 2026

EVgo announced that by the end of 2026, it will increase the number of NACS connectors to more than 500 across 25 states. The list of key markets that will get access to the NACS includes: Austin, Houston, Las Vegas, Orlando, Phoenix, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, and San Francisco.

That’s a 5-fold increase (more than 400 new NACS stalls) in just one year. Given that the EVgo network has nearly 5,000 stalls (the number will increase in 2026), NACS should gradually increase its share from roughly 2% to nearly 10%.

EVgo explains that NACS connectors will be installed at both existing and new locations. In most cases, this means adding 2-4 NACS connectors per site, with the option to add more if demand justifies it.

EVgo expects that adding NACS connectors will enable it to broaden its customer base and increase throughput.

Badar Khan, CEO of EVgo, said:

“Increasing the share of NACS connectors on EVgo’s high-power network means more EV drivers will have access to public fast charging near their everyday amenities like grocery stores, shopping and restaurants. We are already seeing an increase in NACS throughput on our network, and with more than 35 NACS models expected on American roads by the end of the year, we expect that to grow as we add more connectors throughout the country.”

Autocharge+

EVgo notes that, regardless of the connector standard (primarily CCS1 or NACS), customers can use Autocharge+ to automatically start a charging session and pay for the charge. It’s an alternative solution to Plug & Charge. EVgo’s Autocharge+ recently surpassed 5 million sessions since its launch in 2022.

Alex Keros, Senior VP of Product at EVgo, said:

“Backed by rigorous testing at the EVgo Innovation Lab, we launched not only a market-leading product with our liquid-cooled NACS cables, but also a great customer experience by expanding Autocharge+ compatibility to serve both NACS and CCS drivers,”.

Always good to see more connectors and more stalls! I am finding that when I travel these days, I can choose which charger is cheapest or most convenient, instead of having to go to the only one around.
