Earlier this month, Fiat revealed that the Fiat Topolino is coming to the United States. For Fiat, which is part of Stellantis, it would be the second all-electric model in North America after the Fiat 500e.
The Fiat Topolino has already been shown at a few events in the US, but details regarding the market launch will be shared in 2026. Currently, it’s available in Europe and South America.
Fiat Topolino
The Fiat Topolino is a two-seat microcar, 2.53 meters or 99.6 inches long. It carries the Topolino name, which translates to “little mouse” in Italian, after the original Fiat 500 Topolino available in Italy between 1936 and 1955. In Europe, vehicles like this can be driven from the age of 14 years old. In the US, it might fall under the Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) category — we don’t know yet.
The Fiat Topolino is available in two versions — the standard and the “open” Fiat Topolino Dolcevita. Within the Stellantis group, the Fiat Topolino is a cousin of the Citroën Ami and Opel Rocks-e.
Battery and Range
The Fiat Topolino features a 5.4-kWh battery. That’s a really small pack, as some EVs can have a larger battery buffer than Topolino’s full capacity.
However, at low speeds of up to 28 MPH (45 km/h), such a battery is enough for up to 47 miles (75 km) of range.
The front-mounted electric motor is just 6 kW. That’s also not much, but the Fiat Topolino is designed for city centers, where parking, not speed, is the primary issue.
Charging
For the Fiat Topolino, DC fast charging is not even an option. The battery is small, so even the lowest power chargers would be overkill.
Moreover, the Topolino does not even need AC Level 2 charging stations. All that’s necessary is an electric outlet, as the vehicle comes with its own retractable charging cable. Charging should take no longer than 3-4 hours.
Pricing
The prices of the Fiat Topolino remain unknown at that point. In Europe, the cost is just under €10,000 before incentives (over $11,500). In the US, the price might be lower, depending on the vehicle’s final configuration and category.
