Gilbarco Veeder-Root is the latest supplier of retail fuel dispensers to expand its portfolio with EV charging solutions. The company has just announced the market launch of the Konect 400 kW all‑in‑one charging platform.
As the name indicates, Konect 400 kW all‑in‑one chargers offer a peak power output of 400 kW and include both CCS1 and NACS (SAE J3400) charging connectors for maximum compatibility.
As of today, most EV charging equipment manufacturers offer 400-kW charging solutions, so one might ask: what makes the Konect special? Well, Gilbarco Veeder-Root explains that it’s “the first ultra‑fast platform purpose‑built for fuel and convenience retail” with integrated payment and software management systems.
As we understand it, the Konect platform is tailored to the needs of gas stations, making it easier for them to integrate EV chargers with existing software systems.
“Why forecourts [the pumping area in front of a gas station] need a different kind of charger
Current EV charging systems force retailers to manage multiple apps, fragmented hardware and disparate vendors, creating unnecessary complications and inconsistent driver experiences. Previous ultra‑fast chargers have promised speed, but failed to deliver the reliability, manageability and integrated commerce solutions that forecourts and c-stores require for driver adoption.
The Konect 400 kW platform addresses those problems by prioritizing:
- Consistency: Integrated hardware and software, from forecourt to convenience store, deliver a single, seamless payment and loyalty experience at the point of charge.
- Day‑one integration: Custom APIs and deployment tools reduce complexity, enabling rapid pilot and commercial rollouts.
- Driver confidence: Ultra‑fast 400 kW charging and a consistent user experience, paired with Konect’s Uptime Assurance, a premium service that ensures a 98% uptime target, enhances throughput and reduces failed charging events.
- Business operations: Simplified operations reduce vendor overhead and delivers the customer experience retailers need to compete in a fast‑moving mobility market.”
“Konect’s platform reduces operational complexity, enhances customer satisfaction and enables retailers to capture the revenue and loyalty benefits of electrification without reworking their business models.”
Who knows, maybe fuel stations will now try to deploy some EV chargers alongside their fuel dispensers. Gilbarco Veeder-Root says the 400-kW chargers are now available for pilot deployments and commercial orders.
The company’s website also shows a lower-power 200-kW version and a distributed charging system with a 600-kW power electronics cabinet and an option to connect up to four dispensers.
Merrick Glass, President of Konect at Gilbarco Veeder-Root, said:
“EV charging becomes complicated when applications, payment systems and vendors differ from traditional fueling operations. Our All-in-One 400 kW EV Charger is a game changer. It delivers an ultra-fast charge, while integrating consistent payment and software management systems that make electrification intuitive for both drivers and operators.”
“Power is only part of the story. The Konect platform is designed to fit your business and preferred charging hardware, not the other way around. By integrating Invenco’s FlexPay 6 payment platform into the charging technology, we’ve created a consistent customer experience and readied our retailers for a multi-energy future.”
