It’s not even a year since the Ionna DC fast-charging network opened its first Rechargeries on December 27, 2024, and the number of available sites has already crossed 50. It’s a big achievement that makes Ionna the fastest-growing new charging network.
The number of the company’s individual stalls is now above 500, so Ionna has passed the halfway point to its target of 1,000 stalls by the end of 2025.
Ionna Speed
Ionna has very ambitious plans to become one of the largest DC fast-charging networks in North America (initially in the US and later also in Canada). The goal is to deploy 30,000 stalls by 2030. For reference, there are over 66,000 publicly available stalls in the US today, including over 35,000 Tesla Superchargers.
According to Ionna’s recent media event, the company has more than 4,000 stalls contracted. Out of that, 3,000+ stalls are in the permitting process or beyond. In addition, 1,200+ stalls at roughly 120 sites are under construction or beyond. Finally, 500+ stalls and 50+ locations are live.
The Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC) reports 53 sites and 514 ready as of December 8, 2025, but once this article is published, the numbers may already be higher. That’s what the company calls “Ionna Speed”.
With less than a month to the end of the year, Ionna appears confident that it can double its network size to 1,000 stalls and roughly 100 available sites. This would be a tremendous achievement, basically building the equivalent of one-fifth of Electrify America or EVgo in 12 months from scratch.
Ionna’s Next Goal
Ionna has not yet announced its 2026 deployment target. Assuming the goal of 30,000 stalls by the end of 2030 and a starting point of 1,000 stalls, we can make some estimates. On average, the company will deploy approximately 6,000 stalls per year over the next five years.
That’s an expansion rate comparable only to Tesla’s Supercharging network (though Tesla is also ramping up).
Even if the final numbers for 2026 remain below the planned 5-year average, deploying a few thousand stalls would put Ionna very close to Electrify America, EVgo, and ChargePoint in terms of the number of DC fast-charging stalls. See the largest EV charging networks as of November 10, 2025, here. By the way, Ionna is already one of the largest networks outside Superchargers, in terms of NACS (SAE J3400) stalls.
