Lincoln Electric has expanded its EV charging portfolio with Velion, a 50-kW compact, mobile DC fast charger. It might be a perfect solution for applications such as dealership service bays, fleet operations, construction sites, events, and emergency response scenarios.
The Velion has a DC power output of up to 50 kW, but it can be cranked down to 50% (25 kW) or 25% (12.5 kW) if power is limited at the site. On the other end, there is a three-phase 480-volt input, allowing the movable unit to be easily deployed wherever an available electric connection is available (without the necessity of trenching and permitting).
According to specs (see PDF here), the Velion supports high-voltage batteries (200-1,000 V DC) and can supply up to 130 amps. Additionally, there are both CCS1 and NACS (SAE J3400) charging connector options with either a 15 ft or 25 ft long cable.
There are three options available for the Velion: wheeled, with a rugged roll cage, or ground-mounted (so it acts as a standard all-in-one charger).
Lincoln Electric states that the Velion has been designed, engineered, and assembled in the United States, featuring over 70% domestic content. It also meets all National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) and Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements, the company noted.
Because of the target applications, the Velion was designed to perform in a wide temperature range from -30°C to +50°C (-22°C to +122°C), although it derates above 40°C (most likely due to the lack of liquid cooling).
Durability and Performance Features:
- Proprietary epoxy-coated PC boards for enhanced durability
- Smart diagnostics and remote monitoring
- Weather-resistant components
The Lincoln Electric Velion comes with a 3-year standard warranty and is backed by Lincoln Electric’s nationwide service network.
Bruce Chantry, Vice President of Electric Vehicle Solutions at Lincoln Electric, said:
