Lucid Gravity GT 70 MPH Range Test: Over 400 Miles Of Luxury Highway Cruising

Warmer weather in Arizona helped to cross the 400-mile mark.

Strange results from the first 70-MPH range test of the 2026 Lucid Gravity GT prompted State Of Charge‘s Tom Moloughney to re-test the model. This time, the car was tested in more favorable weather conditions in Arizona, which helped it to exceed 400 miles.

Let’s discuss the results.

Lucid Gravity GT

The Lucid Gravity Grand Touring (GT) is a luxury SUV, available in 5- or 7-seat configurations. The car features a 123-kWh battery and has an EPA Combined range of up to 450 miles (the 5-seat version with the default wheel option). The EPA Highway rating of the Lucid Gravity GT is up to 426 miles.

Other versions might have slightly different EPA range numbers (the numbers are the same for the 2025 and 2026 model years):

Test #1: 345+ Miles

During the first 70-MPH range test of the entry-level Lucid Gravity GT in October in New Jersey, Tom Moloughney achieved just 345 miles, with 1% state of charge (SOC) and three miles of range remaining. However, the weather/wind conditions weren’t optimal, and there was an issue within the rear-drive unit, according to Lucid’s engineers.

Test #2: Conditions

The second 70-MPH range test of the Lucid Gravity GT in the same configuration (5-seat and default 20-/21-inch wheels) was conducted in Arizona this December. The weather conditions were much better with noticeably higher temperatures (up to 72°F; 22°C) and minimum road traffic.

Tom started the test with the tire pressure set to the manufacturer’s recommended level, “Smooth” driving mode (the most efficient one), and the ride height set to low. The vehicle’s speed of 70 MPH was GPS-adjusted.

Test #2: 401.7 Miles at 70 MPH

Retesting the Lucid Gravity GT proved worthwhile, as the new result exceeded 400 miles. Tom pushed the vehicle slightly beyond 0% SOC and covered 401.7 miles. That’s over 50 miles more than during test #1.

Moreover, the vehicle covered more miles on each successive quarter of its battery capacity. Initially, it traveled 92 miles (between 100% and 75% SOC), then nearly 98 miles, then 101 miles, and in the final, fourth section (between 25% and 0% SOC), Tom drove over 110 miles. The route was the same all the time, which makes us believe that the increasing temperatures (ambient and battery) are a major factor in achieving a higher range. If all sections returned 110 miles, then the vehicle’s overall potential would be 440 miles.

A total of 401.7 miles is still below the 450 miles of EPA Combined range (426 miles EPA Highway), but now we are getting close enough to think that under perfect conditions, 425-450 miles could be possible.

Another thing to note is energy consumption. According to the car’s computer, the average energy efficiency during the test was 3.43 miles/kWh (more than 10% higher than in test #1).

The car consumed some 116.8 kWh of energy: 98.8% of the available capacity according to the car, but still far from the total capacity of 123 kWh. We don’t know whether pushing the car further beyond 0% SOC would enable a higher range (at a risk of being stuck on a highway), but there seems to be a decent low-end battery capacity buffer.

The Conclusion

The Lucid Gravity GT is a luxury highway cruiser with one of the longest ranges on the market — definitely above 400 miles at 70 MPH in good weather conditions. At over 3.4 miles/kWh, it’s also quite efficient for its size.

An equally important point of note is that the Lucid Gravity is also one of the fastest-charging EVs on the market (see our DC fast-charging analysis for 400 kW chargers and low-voltage chargers), so it can quickly return to the road once the battery is depleted.
