The next holiday travel season might be much easier for Rivian EV drivers thanks to Rivian’s 2025.38 software update, which brings several charging-related upgrades.
Real-Time Info
The manufacturer announced that its in-vehicle navigation and mobile app will provide real-time information about charging stops, including available chargers, power levels, and Charging Scores (a reliability measure based on the experiences of recent drivers’ charging sessions).
An example image below shows what users might expect to see when looking at this real-time data (in this case, four 350-kW chargers and an “A” score).

Let’s note that Electrify America’s real-time info is also now available on Google Maps.
Plug & Charge
Rivian’s Plug & Charge feature will now include two additional DC fast-charging networks — Electrify America (more than 1,000 locations) and the quickly growing Ionna. It gives consumers the means to connect and pay seamlessly at these sites, upon a one-time configuration of a Rivian account and the addition of a payment option.
Starting next week, @Rivian drivers can use Plug & Charge with IONNA — because the only thing that should slow you down is deciding on your next snack. Plus, find charger availability and speeds in Rivian navigation or app.

According to Rivian, its EV drivers already have access to more than 50,000 DC fast-charging stations in North America. This includes the in-house developed Rivian Adventure Network (RAN) and the Tesla Supercharging network.
All details of Rivian‘s 2025.38 OTA software update, not only those that are charging-related, are outlined by RivianTrackr.
