Siemens recently launched its all-new Sicharge Flex distributed DC fast-charging system “for the megawatt era”. It’s modular, scalable, and flexible, designed with reliability and economics in mind, the manufacturer ensures.
According to the German manufacturer, the power electronics cabinet can deliver from 480 kW to 1.68 MW of power, depending on the version. The system offers a fully dynamic power distribution between the stalls with 80 kW or 120 kW granularity.
The Siemens Sicharge Flex’s dispensers can be equipped with either a Megawatt Charging System (MCS) and/or a CCS connector. We guess that if the product enters the North American market, a separate SAE J3400 (NACS) option will also become available. The MCS connector will deliver up to 1,500 amps of current per vehicle.
Siemens notes that the cabinet is remarkably compact, with a power density of 656 kW/m2. The dispensers can be installed up to 300 meters away from the central power cabinet.
The Sicharge Flex system integrates with Siemens eMobility ecosystems, including the cloud-based monitoring and management solution Sifinity Control and DepotFinity for depot operators.
Installation of the first Siemens Sicharge Flex distributed DC fast-charging system has already been ordered by OMV, a Charge Point Operator (CPO) and Mobility Service Provider (MSP) based in Vienna, Austria.
