Slate EVs Get Access to the Tesla Supercharging Network

The Slate EVs will be natively equipped with a NACS charging port.

Slate Auto has announced that its upcoming affordable Slate EVs will come with access to the Tesla Supercharging network. The company is counting on the more than 25,000 stalls available to Tesla’s NACS partners across North America.

The announcement does not surprise, as Slate EVs are equipped with a NACS (SAE J3400) charging port. Charging at Superchargers (and other chargers with the NACS charging connector) will not require any adapters. Supercharging a Slate EV should be relatively easy, even at V3 dispensers, since the charging inlet is on the driver’s rear side of the Slate truck (just like on Teslas).

Meanwhile, charging from CCS1 DC fast chargers will require a CCS1-to-NACS adapter. The same concerns SAE J1772 AC charging points (J1772-to-NACS adapter).

The 2-seat Slate pickup and a 5-seat SUV are expected to enter the market in late 2026 at a starting price in the mid-twenties. It was initially expected that with the $7,500 federal tax credit, the effective cost would be below $20,000, but the tax credit is no longer available. The company is currently accepting $50 reservations (fully refundable).

The EPA Combined range of Slate EVs with a standard 52.7-kWh battery is expected to reach 150 miles, and with an optional 84.3-kWh battery, up to 240 miles.

DC fast charging from 20 to 80% state of charge will take about 30 minutes at up to 120 kW.
