Voltpost will install lamppost EV charging points in Connecticut, by retrofitting existing light poles. The integrated lamppost AC Level 2 charging system was presented in 2024 as a solution for EV charging in cities.
According to ctpost.com, Voltpost has been selected by the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority. The company will take part in an 18-month pilot program to deploy 50 charging stations with a total of 100 charging ports.
As we understand, each of the 50 light poles will be retrofitted with two charging connectors and a retractable cable management system.
The project is expected to be completed by Q4 2026. As of now it’s not yet known where the charging points will be installed but it will be in the United Illuminating Co. and Eversource Energy service areas.
Another unknown is the pricing. Access to the charging points will be available through Voltpost’s app.
In late 2024, it was reported that Voltpost lamppost EV charging points will use AT&T connectivity as part of a partnership between the two companies in the Michigan area.
