Volvo EX60 To Offer 400 Miles of Range and Outstanding DC Fast-Charging Speed

The manufacturer promises a range replenishment rate of 168 miles in 10 minutes.

Ahead of the upcoming world premiere of the Volvo EX60, Volvo has announced that its new EV will offer a best-in-class driving range and charging speed comparable to refueling with traditional fossil fuels.

The Volvo EX60 is a premium all-electric SUV based on the SPA3 platform. The model has an 800-volt electrical system with battery cells integrated directly into the vehicle’s structure (cell-to-body). The EX60 is also Volvo’s first car built with mega casting, which replaces hundreds of smaller parts.

According to the manufacturer, all improvements, including in-house-developed electric motors and software, enabled weight reduction and unlocked maximum efficiency.

Up to 400 Miles of Range

Volvo says that the preliminary EPA driving range for the Volvo EX60 in an all-wheel drive configuration will be 400 miles. The final number will be announced at a later date, but it’s already certain that the EX60 will go further than any previous Volvo electric car.

The preliminary range in the European WLTP test cycle is 810 km (503 miles).

DC Fast Charging: 168 Miles in 10 Minutes

Another outstanding stat for the Volvo EX60 is its range replenishment rate of 168 miles in just 10 minutes of charging (211 miles or 340 km for the WLTP test cycle). However, the manufacturer notes that this will be possible under optimum conditions at a 400-kW charger that supports high-voltage battery systems.

Volvo does not specify the peak charging power or the 10-80% state of charge (SOC) time. We can estimate that 168 miles out of 400 total represents 42 percent of the battery’s total capacity. It might be a 10-52% SOC session then.

Anders Bell, Chief Technology Officer at Volvo Cars, said:

“The EX60 is designed to be a gamechanger. With our new electric vehicle architecture, we directly address the main worries that customers have when considering a switch to a fully electric car. The result is class-leading range and fast charging speeds, marking the end of range anxiety.”

The Volvo EX60 specs remind us of the new BMW iX3, which also has an estimated range of up to 400 miles and a similarly fast range replenishment rate: 175 miles in 10 minutes.

The global premiere of the Volvo EX60 is scheduled for January 21, 2026, and the entire reveal event will be livestreamed:
