Genesis Electrified GV70 Comes With Three Years of Free Charging

Complimentary 30-minute fast-charging sessions on the Electrify America network.

Published March 26, 2023

The recently introduced 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 will come with three years of 30-minute complimentary charging sessions at Electrify America’s coast-to-coast charging network.

According to the agreement between Electrify America and Genesis Motor America, the promotion is available for the first owners and counts from the date of their vehicle purchase.

The value of such a perk varies significantly depending on the use case, but if someone travels a lot, it might be substantial. The Genesis Electrified GV70 itself starts at $66,975 (including the destination charge). Still, thanks to local production in Alabama (which started a few weeks ago), it’s eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit, which might bring the cost down to $59,475.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 does not have the highest all-electric range (only 236 miles EPA, thanks to a 77.4 kWh battery). Still, its DC fast-charging capabilities (reaching 10-80% state-of-charge in just 18 minutes in optimum conditions) are among the best on the market –similar to Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP-based models.

Claudia Marquez, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America, said:

“As we take this next step into our fully-electrified future with our third EV model, Genesis is pleased to be collaborating with Electrify America to deliver convenient charging solutions to our customers,”.

Rob Barrosa, vice president of technology at Electrify America, said:

“Through our collaborations with leading automakers such as Genesis, we continue to build trust and help advance the electric vehicle revolution through hyper-fast charging experiences for EV drivers. By providing three years of complimentary 30-minute charging sessions to new GV70 owners, we’re taking a step closer to creating an electric transportation future that benefits both drivers and communities across the U.S.”

It’s worth adding that after the recent announcement, all Genesis EV models in the US now come with three years of 30-minute complimentary charging sessions at Electrify America’s charging network.

For reference, the more mainstream Hyundai and Kia EV models from the same Hyundai Motor Group come with a less generous fast-charging package:

  • 2023 Hyundai Kona Electric: 250 kWh of complimentary charging
  • 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5: two years of 30-minute complimentary charging sessions
  • 2023 Kia Niro EV: 500 kWh of complimentary charging
  • 2023 Kia EV6: 1,000 kWh of complimentary charging
